CHANGE YOUR CLOCK, CHANGE YOUR BATTERIES

 March 6, 2020

Daylight savings time begins this weekend, March 8th. As you change your clock ahead one hour, please remember to also change your smoke detector batteries (and carbon monoxide detector too). Once you change the batteries, TEST the detector to be sure it is working. If your detector is 10 years old or older, it should be replaced.

Most people are surprised to learn that a fire can double in size every 30 seconds. The sound of the alarm will give you and your family those few extra seconds to get out of your home. Checking your detectors and changing the batteries is one of the simplest things you can do to protect your loved ones.

To learn more about how smoke detectors work and why they are so important, follow this link to the National Fire Protection Association.
